Baseball Game Preview: Argo Argonauts vs. Oak Forest Bengals

Argo is 0-7 against Oak Forest since April of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Argonauts will welcome the Bengals at 4:30 p.m.

Argo is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 9-3 to Chicago University.

Valente Melero put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Oak Forest made easy work of Lincoln Park on Saturday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Bengals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Oak Forest has been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Argo, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-19.

Argo might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Oak Forest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Argonauts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
