Preview: Monterey Dores vs. Soquel Knights

The Monterey Dores are on the road again on Friday and play against the Soquel Knights at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Monterey didn't have too much trouble with Sacred Heart Prep on the road as they won 38-24.

Monterey's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Enobong Wirth, who rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns. Wirth is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Isaac Rowe also helped out as he racked up 100 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Soquel came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Carmel as Soquel made off with a 35-14 win. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Soquel was the (much) better team in the second half.

Tyreis Lundy had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Lundy's longest rush was for an incredible 98 yards. Jordan Mccord was in the mix too, providing Soquel with two touchdowns.

Their wins bumped Monterey to 8-3 and Soquel to 9-2.

Things could have been worse for Monterey, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 21-7 loss to Soquel when the teams last played back in September. Can Monterey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
