Basketball Recap: Amarius Phillips' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Centerville over Anderson-Shiro

Centerville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly six points.

Centerville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amarius Phillips, who posted 14 points. Those 14 points gave Phillips a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jeromy Rosales, who earned 11 points.

Centerville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Anderson-Shiro, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Centerville has already played their next match, a 30-26 loss against Lovelady on the 13th. As for Anderson-Shiro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-56 defeat against Buffalo on the 13th.
