Football Recap: Kaleb Ricketts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Palmetto over St. Joseph's Catholic

Palmetto had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-8 to make it six. They came up short against the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights, falling 42-21. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 35-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaleb Ricketts, who rushed for 152 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries.

As for St. Joseph's Catholic, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their seven-point performance the matchup before.

Paul Norman had a dynamite game, rushing for 133 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Sam Patterson, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Palmetto will square off against rival Christ Church Episcopal at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Joseph's Catholic is set to challenge their familiar foe Powdersville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
