Basketball Recap: Wayne Trace Comes Up Short

Wayne Trace lost against Shawnee back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wayne Trace Raiders had to suffer through a 64-25 loss at the hands of the Shawnee Indians. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Leading Shawnee to victory were Trevick Bertke and Beckett Bertke. Trevick almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards, while Beckett went 6-for-7 from beyond the arc to rack up 21 points and six rebounds. Trevick's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Hutchins, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Wayne Trace has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Shawnee, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

Looking ahead, Wayne Trace will challenge Bluffton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bluffton will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Wayne Trace surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shawnee, they will be playing at home against Bowsher at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
