Football Game Preview: Palm Beach Gardens Gators vs. Dwyer Panthers

The Palm Beach Gardens Gators are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Dwyer Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Palm Beach Gardens and nine for Dwyer dating back to last season.

Palm Beach Gardens is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Palm Beach Central on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Gators had to suffer through a 48-20 loss at the hands of the Broncos. The Gators gained 122 more yards on the day, but it was the Broncos that made the best use of them.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Wilfred Coicou, who rushed for 83 yards and one score on only five carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 80 yards. Brandon Garland also helped out with an impressive 105 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Dwyer fell victim to Palm Beach Lakes and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 20-0 to the Rams.

Palm Beach Gardens will have to contain Sylvio Joseph as he made an impact in Dwyer's last game. He rushed for 140 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.

Even if they lost, Dwyer's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Matthew Myles and Andrew Santos, who racked up four sacks between them. Santos is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Zacahri Millner was another major factor on D, making 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Palm Beach Gardens' loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Dwyer, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Palm Beach Gardens strolled past Dwyer in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 28-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
