League recap: Gunter dominating on the mound for Andrews

1A Smoky Mountain - Big's top pitcher this week was Andrews's Chandler Gunter. Over the past week, he had one win and 16 Ks.

Hayesville had a successful week, as it won four total games to lead the league. The Yellowjackets beat Swain County 5-3, Cherokee 12-2, Towns County 13-3 and Tuscola 12-4.

The Maroon Devils boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Gunter, who turned in 16 Ks for the Wildcats. With 28 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.

Gunter struck out 16 in Andrews' 5-2 win over Robbinsville on March 14. Over seven innings of work, he gave up three hits and two runs.



Bronson Lyndsay was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during Swain County's 14-0 win over the Braves. He went 1-for-2 and scored one run.
