Recap: King Lions vs. Sumner Stingrays

Winning is just a little bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, a fact the King Lions proved on Friday. They came out on top against Sumner by a score of 49-42. The win made it back-to-back wins for King.

King had a senior duo take command as Julien Barnett dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds and Ian McLargin scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Barnett is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was George "TJ" Daniels, who scored eight points along with five assists and two steals.

Several Stingrays players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Devin Baker, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Chaplin, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four steals.

King's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Sumner, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

King will head out on the road to take on Durant at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Durant is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Sumner, they will be playing at home against Gaither at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gaither knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Sumner likes a good challenge.
