Soccer Game Preview: Swansea vs. Battery Creek

The Swansea Tigers will take on the Battery Creek Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Swansea is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Aynor a 6-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Swansea's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Their offense was hitting Aynor from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Juel Rivers led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Battery Creek won against Colleton County on Friday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Monday. The Dolphins came out on top against Georgetown by a score of 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Battery Creek.

Swansea's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Battery Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8-2.

Swansea came out on top in a nail-biter against Battery Creek in their previous matchup back in April of 2018, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Dolphins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
