Softball Recap: Lincoln Park Railsplitters vs. Allen Park Jaguars
Lincoln Park had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it five. They lost 20-5 to the Allen Park Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.
As for Allen Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by six runs or more this season.
For Allen Park's part, Alexa Hawrot was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Hawrot has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last four games.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lestat Guthrie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kat Clark, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Lincoln Park will challenge Summit Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Railsplitters are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Allen Park, they will head out to challenge Divine Child at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
