Softball Recap: Nease Find Success

Nease won the last time they faced Fletcher and things went their way on Thursday too. The Nease Panthers skirted past the Fletcher Senators 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 5, 2024.

Sydney Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Casey Eliason was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Miranda Harmon, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Nease hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Nease's record is now 3-7. As for Fletcher, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Nease will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against St. Augustine at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. Fletcher also won't see the field for a while: their next contest is against Sandalwood at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Sandalwood has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.67 runs per game on average), something Fletcher will no doubt try to take advantage of.
