Baseball Recap: Plano Comes Up Short

Plano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Richmond-Burton Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 on Monday.

Jason Phillips spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Plano's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Richmond-Burton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plano will face off against Harvard at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Richmond-Burton, they will take on Stillman Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
