Baseball Game Preview: El Camino Real Royals vs. Taft Toreadors

For the second straight game, El Camino Real will face off against Taft. The Royals will venture away from home to challenge the Toreadors at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. El Camino Real's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Taft's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

El Camino Real took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Taft 10-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Royals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Luke Howe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Adan Viner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Joey Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

El Camino Real pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Taft, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 16 of their last 17 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.
