Basketball Recap: Westside Christian Academy Beats Horizon Science Academy for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Westside Christian Academy extended their winning streak to seven games thanks to a huge performance from Calvin Cottenden. The Westside Christian Academy Eagles took down the Horizon Science Academy Dragons 69-52 on Friday thanks in part to Cottenden, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.

Trent Douglass was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. What's more, he also racked up six assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Westside Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Horizon Science Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside Christian Academy will host Lake Ridge Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Horizon Science Academy, they will be playing at home against Lawrence Upper at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
