Basketball Recap: Christian Educational Consortium Takes a Loss

Christian Educational Consortium lost against LKY back in November of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Christian Educational Consortium Cougars took a blow against the LKY Saints, falling 72-23. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Christian Educational Consortium had strong showings from Sophie Hales, who posted 11 points and six rebounds, and Jenna Wyndham, who earned nine points in addition to six boards and six steals. Wyndham is becoming a predictor of Christian Educational Consortium's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 2-1 (and 4-11 when she doesn't).

LKY found their leader in sophomore Hannah Simmon, who went 11-for-19 en route to 29 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Simmon has scored at least a third of LKY's points. Another player making a difference was Courtney Simmon, who went 6-for-8 on her way to 16 points and six boards.

Christian Educational Consortium has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for LKY, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-7.

Coincidentally, Christian Educational Consortium and LKY will both be playing Bluegrass United the next time they take the court. Christian Educational Consortium will host Bluegrass United at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, while LKY will host them at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday.
