Basketball Recap: Crossland Takes a Loss

After flying high against High Point last Tuesday, Crossland came back down to earth. The Crossland Cavaliers took a blow against the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets on Thursday, falling 77-18. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Crossland lost, don't look at Ramia Alston. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points.

Gwynn Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Oliyah Contee, who earned 19 points along with eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Mason, who put up 20 points.

Crossland now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Gwynn Park, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Crossland will take on Friendly in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gwynn Park, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-45 defeat against Appoquinimink on the 13th.
