Basketball Recap: Fillmore Comes Up Short

Fillmore lost against Rio Mesa back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Flashes lost to the Spartans at home by a 77-58 margin. The Flashes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Defeat or not, Fillmore got some senior leadership from Brendan Banks-Speed and Octavio Orozco. Banks-Speed posted 23 points and five steals, while Orozco dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 39.7% of the Flashes' points, marking the third time in a row Banks-Speed has scored more than a third of the team's points. Brendon Palushaj was another key player, putting up four points.

Fillmore's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Rio Mesa, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fillmore will challenge Carpinteria at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rio Mesa, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Newbury Park at 4:30 p.m. on December 4.
