After six lead changes,
Estrella Foothills (Goodyear, Ariz.) took the lead for good when
Gerrit Groenewold ran for a touchdown with 2:00 to go in the third quarter and held on to defeat
Fountain Hills (Ariz.) 48-28 on Saturday.
The Wolves led 20-14 at halftime, but the Falcons recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 6:00 to go in the third.
Each side put up 14 points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at six.
Groenewold and
Najee Jacobs ran for a bunch of touchdowns for Fountain Hills. Groenewold scored two touchdowns on the ground and Jacobs added three as well.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which FH took, 24-3.
In a non-conference game next week Estrella Foothills (5-2) takes on Antelope, and Fountain Hills (2-5) will go up against Cortez in a IV Section III game.
