Carbon Hill picks up fourth straight win on the road

Recap: Carbon Hill Bulldogs vs. Winston County Yellowjackets

The Carbon Hill Bulldogs proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 31) but on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Winston County and snuck past 62-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Despite the defeat, Winston County saw an underclassman step up: Lynleigh Cobb dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Cobb hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Marli Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Carbon Hill pushed their record up to 14-12 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Winston County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carbon Hill will take on Cordova at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cordova will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Winston County, they will head out on the road to challenge Phillips at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Phillips has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 16.
