The Potomac Senior Panthers will take on the Osbourn Park Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Potomac Senior will be strutting in after a win while Osbourn Park will be coming in after a defeat.
Potomac Senior came out on top against Gar-Field on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Panthers took their matchup against the Red Wolves 8-4. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Red Wolves on their field since May 3, 2022.

Carmine Burkhart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Potomac Senior is undefeated when Burkhart allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Burkhart was also big at the plate, earning one RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kelsey Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Theo Thomas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Osbourn Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Freedom.
Like Potomac Senior, Osbourn Park also got a great game from a two-way player: Tyler Mills. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Mills was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nick Shifflett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Evan Charest, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Osbourn Park's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Potomac Senior, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Potomac Senior's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Osbourn Park, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Potomac Senior continue to outrun the ball?
Potomac Senior came out on top in a nail-biter against Osbourn Park in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, sneaking past 13-12. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
