Basketball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

Avon was the 57-34 winner over Westlake when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Avon Eagles fell 57-45 to the Westlake Demons on Tuesday. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

It was another big night for Hayden Purdy, who went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points and six rebounds for Westlake. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Turk, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Avon suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Westlake, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Avon will host Brookside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brookside will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Avon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westlake, they will venture away from home to take on Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westlake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season.
