Basketball Game Preview: West Oso Bears vs. Taft Greyhounds

West Oso is 4-0 against Taft since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The West Oso Bears will look to defend their home court against the Taft Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. West Oso will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

West Oso is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing George West: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that West Oso blew George West out of the water with a 71-23 final score. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

West Oso's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malaigha Sweats, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards. SweatS's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Khiana Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.

Meanwhile, Taft lost 67-41 to London on Friday. The Greyhounds haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

West Oso will need focus on slowing down Josette Aparicio, one of several Taft players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Aparicio a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Yaneli Rios, who had six points and nine boards.

West Oso has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-13.

Everything came up roses for West Oso against Taft in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 79-26 victory. Will West Oso repeat their success, or does Taft have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
