Softball Recap: Columbian Comes Up Short

If Columbian was riding high fresh off their 18-10 takedown of Sandusky on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tornadoes fell just short of the Norwalk Truckers by a score of 9-8 on Monday. The Tornadoes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Truckers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Olyvia Steinmetz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Breanna McNutt, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Columbian has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Norwalk, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.

Columbian will face off against Seneca East at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.93 runs per game on average), something the Tornadoes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Norwalk, they will square off against Lexington at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Minutemen will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Truckers surely won't give up without a fight.
