Basketball Recap: Deer Creek Falls Short of Putnam City North in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Deer Creek can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 94-55 loss at the hands of the Putnam City North Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Antlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Panthers are ranked first).

Putnam City North got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandie Harrod out in front who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance also gave Harrod a new career-high in steals (seven). Another player making a difference was Kiana Gray, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 26 points and six steals.

Deer Creek dropped their record down to 11-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Putnam City North, the win was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-1.

Deer Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Putnam City North, they have already played their next contest, a 78-59 victory against Mustang on the 6th.
