Softball Game Preview: Salpointe Catholic Lancers vs. Catalina Foothills Falcons

Salpointe Catholic is a perfect 10-0 against Catalina Foothills since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Salpointe Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Salpointe Catholic's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Nogales with a sharp 20-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lancers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Audri Elias made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Peyton Green was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Molli Daley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Salpointe Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nogales only managed one hit.

Catalina Foothills played against Canyon del Oro on Thursday and lost via forfeit.

Salpointe Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Catalina Foothills, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Salpointe Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against Catalina Foothills in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
