Preview: Manchester Blue Devils vs. Mt. Zion Eagles
After two games on the road, Manchester is heading back home. They will take on the Mt. Zion Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Manchester is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Zion in Georgia (Manchester is ranked 140th, while Mt. Zion is ranked 398th).
Manchester can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over Taylor County. The victory was just what Manchester needed coming off of a 27-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Manchester can attribute much of their success to Qua Cooper, who rushed for 122 yards on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Mt. Zion's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Bowdon 63-14. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mt. Zion in their matchups with Bowdon: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Mt. Zion had strong showings from Damian Sanders, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown, and Rashad Montgomery, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown.
Manchester has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Mt. Zion, they have yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 3-7 record.
