Top 15 most dominant South Dakota high school football programs since 2006

See two of the state's top football programs do battle last season.

It just isn't a South Dakota set of state finals without Washington (Sioux Falls).

The most dominant team in South Dakota since MaxPreps became America's source for high school sports has reached the state finals in nine of the 11 years, winning five state crowns.

Those title game losses are the difference that keeps Washington above No. 2 Dell Rapids. The Quarriers have the same number of titles and a much better winning percentage in the big game, but getting there is still worth quite a bit.



Here is how the points break down:

1. 20 for a state title

2. 10 for state championship game appearance

3. Other points are based on where a team finished in the final MaxPreps South Dakota Football Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. For example, if a team finished No. 1 overall, it would receive 25 points. If it finished 25th overall, the team would get one point. No points are awarded if the team did not finish in the Top 25.
