Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Chowchilla

Chowchilla's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sierra Chieftains a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Tribe have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Brianna Guardado's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lexyss Sabin, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Hadley Ray was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Chowchilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chowchilla pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sierra, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Looking ahead, Chowchilla will take on Immanuel at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sierra will be paying especially close attention to the Tribe's game: after the Tribe faces off against the Eagles, they'll take on Sierra again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
