Soccer Game Preview: Northside vs. Columbus

The Northside Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Columbus Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbus took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Northside, who comes in off a win.

Northside will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal last Thursday, then bounced right back against Hardaway on Friday. Everything went Northside's way against Hardaway as Northside made off with a 10-0 victory. Give the Patriots' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting Hardaway from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Ryleigh Pigg led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Columbus managed to keep up with Auburn until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Columbus came up short against Auburn, falling 3-0. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Northside pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Columbus, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Northside was able to grind out a solid victory over Columbus in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northside since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
