Softball Recap: Almira-Coulee-Hartline Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Almira-Coulee-Hartline, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lake Roosevelt Raiders on Thursday, sneaking past 8-7. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Grace Okamoto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace Erickson and Emma Brummett did most of the damage at the plate: Erickson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Brummett went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two doubles gave Erickson a new career-high. Emma Whitaker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Almira-Coulee-Hartline's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Roosevelt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Almira-Coulee-Hartline will face off against Mary Walker at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lake Roosevelt, they will challenge Liberty Bell at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mountain Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.94 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
