Basketball Recap: Angleton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lamar Consolidated last Tuesday, Angleton came back down to earth. The game between the Angleton Wildcats and the Iowa Colony Pioneers didn't end well, with the Angleton Wildcats falling 46-29. The Wildcats were probably out for revenge after losing 24-15 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Iowa Colony's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaliyah Rogers, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points and seven rebounds. Payton Watson was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Angleton dropped their record down to 12-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Iowa Colony, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Angleton will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on La Porte at 1:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Iowa Colony, they will be taking part in a tournament against Cypress Ranch at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th.
