Basketball Recap: Vernon Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Vernon won the last time they faced Midway and things went their way on Friday too. The Vernon Lions strolled past the Midway Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 54-40. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 427th, while the Falcons are ranked 1282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vernon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Midway, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Aspermont the next time they take the court. Midway will head out to face Aspermont at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, while Vernon will head out to face them at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.
