Basketball Game Preview: Calais Blue Devils vs. Penobscot Valley Howlers

The Calais Blue Devils will square off against the Penobscot Valley Howlers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Penobscot Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Calais, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Calais was able to grind out a solid victory over Lee Academy, taking the game 50-41.

Meanwhile, Penobscot Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 59-22 loss at the hands of Schenck. While losing is never fun, the Howlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Wolverines are ranked sixth).

Calais' win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Penobscot Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Calais beat Penobscot Valley 46-35 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Does Calais have another victory up their sleeve, or will Penobscot Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
