Preview: Cabrillo Conquistadores vs. Orcutt Academy Spartans
Cabrillo is 9-0 against Orcutt Academy since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cabrillo Conquistadores will head out on the road to take on the Orcutt Academy Spartans at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cabrillo has eight straight victories, Orcutt Academy has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Pioneer Valley scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Cabrillo still came out on top. Cabrillo snuck past Pioneer Valley with a 62-57 win.
Meanwhile, Orcutt Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 52-48 to Morro Bay. That's two games in a row now that Orcutt Academy has lost by exactly four points.
Cabrillo is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Orcutt Academy, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-16.
Everything went Cabrillo's way against Orcutt Academy in their previous meeting back in January as Cabrillo made off with a 61-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cabrillo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
