The Bonners Ferry Badgers will head out to take on the Potlatch Loggers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Bonners Ferry made easy work of Kellogg and carried off a 17-7 victory. The Badgers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Ryelle Short was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, six stolen bases, and four runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Sadie Frederickson was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs.
Bonners Ferry hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Potlatch put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Genesee as they made off with a 12-6 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Loggers have posted against the Bulldogs since May 2, 2023.
Brieanna Winther tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, Jaida Andres was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Andres is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Heitstuman, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Potlatch's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.1 runs this season. As for Bonners Ferry, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both Bonners Ferry and Potlatch just can't seem to miss. The Badgers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Potlatch struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits.
