Softball Recap: Franklin Sets Scoring Season-High Against Coronado

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin). They put the hurt on the Coronado Thunderbirds with a sharp 23-9 win on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Sophia Lucero was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Miha Delara was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Lucero wasn't the only one making solid contact: Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Franklin picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 8-16-1. As for Coronado, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-20.

Franklin has already played their next contest, a 15-4 loss against Montwood on the 5th. As for Coronado, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 20-2 defeat against Pebble Hills on the 5th.
