Softball Recap: North Comes Up Short

North extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 9-6 in the process. They came up short against the Northwest Grizzlies, falling 10-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the RedHawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ana Amador, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Northwest, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The result was nothing new for Northwest, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Northwest's side, Lilly Hoffman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Hoffman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Tharon Thomas was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kam Stubbs, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northwest beat North by a score of 16-2 later that day.
