Football Game Preview: Memphis Central Warriors vs. KIPP Collegiate phoenix

The Memphis Central Warriors will look to defend their home field on Friday against the KIPP Collegiate phoenix at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Memphis Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Overton 41-0 on Friday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Wolverines are ranked 270th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andrus Farmer was nothing short of spectacular: he picked up 49 receiving yards and three scores. Memphis Central also got help from Robbie Patton, who showed off his sure hands for 116 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, KIPP Collegiate beat Booker T. Washington 18-12 on Friday. The phoenix haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Memphis Central better keep an eye on Kevin Garnett. He was instrumental in KIPP Collegiate's win, rushing for 160 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. Garnett's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Memphis Central's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for KIPP Collegiate, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Memphis Central against KIPP Collegiate when the teams last played back in August of 2017, as the squad secured a 43-6 win. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
