Softball Game Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. East Carteret Mariners

Lejeune hasn't had much luck against East Carteret recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Lejeune will be playing at home against East Carteret at 4:00 p.m. Lejeune has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lejeune is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against East Carteret, falling 16-1. That's two games in a row now that the Devil Pups have lost by exactly 15 runs.

For East Carteret's part, Amilya Lewis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lewis has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Grayson Gillikin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Sadie McIntosh was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.

East Carteret was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lejeune's loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for East Carteret, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record.
