Basketball Recap: Como Park Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Johnson

Como Park hadn't done well against Johnson recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Como Park Cougars walked away with an 84-76 victory over the Johnson Governors. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cougars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Governors are ranked 80th).

The victory got Como Park back to even at 6-6. As for Johnson, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5.

Como Park will face off against Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harding knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Como Park likes a good challenge. As for Johnson, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-56 win against Esko on the 18th.
