Volleyball Game Preview: Shelbyville Golden Bears vs. Greenwood Woodmen

The Shelbyville Golden Bears will challenge the Greenwood Woodmen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shelbyville is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Shelbyville's tournament run continued when they took on Perry Meridian on Saturday. The Golden Bears took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons.

Shelbyville was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-15.

Addy Marshall put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 12 assists and ten digs.

Meanwhile, Greenwood hadn't done well against Southport recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Woodmen walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cardinals.

Greenwood was especially dominant in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-19, 27-25, 21-25, 25-10.

Shelbyville better focus on containing Addie Curry and Bella Davis as the pair were huge in Greenwood's win. Curry had 21 digs, while Davis had 11 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Davis a new career-high.

Shelbyville's defeat dropped their record down to 11-20. As for Greenwood, their victory bumped their record up to 11-17.

Shelbyville was able to grind out a solid win over Greenwood when the teams last played back in September, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Bears since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
