Basketball Recap: Independent Baptist Academy's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Milford Christian last Friday, Independent Baptist Academy came back down to earth. The Independent Baptist Academy Kings took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Solid Rock Christian School Swordsmen. The Kings' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Independent Baptist Academy lost on Monday, don't look at Scott Sisco. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points and six steals. Nathan Kirby was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine boards and nine steals.

Even though they lost, Independent Baptist Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Solid Rock Christian School can attribute much of their success to Colton Krykewycz, who went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Krykewycz has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Reese, who earned seven points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Independent Baptist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Solid Rock Christian School, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independent Baptist Academy has already played their next match (against Lighthouse Baptist Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
