Football Preview: Wheat Ridge Farmers vs. Middle Park Panthers

The Wheat Ridge Farmers will play host again on Friday to welcome the Middle Park Panthers, where kickoff is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Middle Park took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wheat Ridge, who comes in off a win.

Wheat Ridge's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They breezed by Niwot at home to the tune of 41-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Farmers considering their seven-point performance the matchup before.

Isaac Mccune had a dynamite game for Wheat Ridge, throwing for 150 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Bennett Wilkes was Mccune's top target, picking up 104 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wheat Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Meanwhile, Middle Park lost to Rawlins at home by a 28-14 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 177th in Colorado, while the Outlaws are ranked 32nd in Wyoming).

Wheat Ridge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Middle Park, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
