Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Jesuit's Winning Streak

Jesuit dropped their record down to 12-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Glencoe Crimson Tide by a score of 7-6. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crimson Tide apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

As for Glencoe, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Glencoe's part, the team relied heavily on Irene Vandyke, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs Vandyke has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalli Farrimond, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Jesuit and Glencoe should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. The Crusaders will face off against Mountainside at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (1 vs. 33). Meanwhile, Glencoe (ranked 22nd) will meet Newberg (ranked 120th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Crimson Tide's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while the Tigers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
