Baseball Game Preview: Ruidoso Warriors vs. Robertson Cardinals

The Ruidoso Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Robertson Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ruidoso is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Ruidoso took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Capitan 19-3. The Warriors have beaten the Tigers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Joel Ortega was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Carson Stratton, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Ruidoso hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Robertson lost 11-3 to East Mountain on Thursday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Robertson now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Ruidoso, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Ruidoso couldn't quite get it done against Robertson in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can Ruidoso avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
