The Devon Prep Tide will head out on the road to square off against the Upper Merion Area Vikings at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Devon Prep put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Cardinal O'Hara as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The win was nothing new for the Tide as they're now sitting on three straight.
Devon Prep got a great performance from Colin Carey as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Liam Jung and Ryan Samms did most of the damage at the plate: Jung went 2-for-3 with three runs, while Samms went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Samms a new career-high. Austin Conaty also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Devon Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Upper Merion Area ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pottstown 11-9. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on John Tomsho, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Dylan Fowler, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Devon Prep's record is now 7-10. As for Upper Merion Area, their record now sits at 11-7.
Devon Prep beat Upper Merion Area 8-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tide since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
