Football Game Preview: Garden Spot Spartans vs. Warwick Warriors

The Garden Spot Spartans will face off against the Warwick Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Friday, Garden Spot got the win against Fleetwood by a conclusive 28-7. With the Spartans ahead 21-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Garden Spot to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabe Martin, who rushed for 140 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 80 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 140 rushing yards gave Martin a new career-high. Cord? Douglas was another key rusher, rushing for 89 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Warwick). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 38-8 victory over Cocalico. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their seven-point performance the contest before.

Warwick's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points over those games. As for Garden Spot, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
