Basketball Game Preview: South Lakes Seahawks vs. Maury Commodores

The South Lakes Seahawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Maury Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Lakes knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Maury likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, South Lakes blew past Centreville, posting an 80-34 win. The contest marked the Seahawks' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Maury entered their tilt with Norcom on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They strolled past the Greyhounds with points to spare, taking the game 55-39. Given the Commodores' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Lakes' win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.8 points. As for Maury, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
