Basketball Recap: Newman Comes Up Short

Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a blow against the Auburndale Apaches, falling 53-19. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while the Apaches are ranked 59th).

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Auburndale, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Newman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-39 win against Chequamegon on the 24th. Auburndale has also already played their next game, a 62-27 victory against Rib Lake on the 24th.
