Baseball Recap: Midland Has No Trouble Against Elton

While Midland put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Elton. The Rebels were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Indians. That's two games straight that the Rebels have won by exactly 14 runs.

Drew Babineaux made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Midland: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Scott, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Drayke Fontenot, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Midland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Midland and bumps their season record up to 7-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Elton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
